Times do change. Remember the days when you installed McAfee Virus protection and and every 4-5 month you updated the pattern. Unthinkable today. I set the update cycle to hours now. But I keep educating users about safe computing. The virus scans by themselves will only do so much.

And then there is the SPAM. Nowadays SPAM blocking is a must for a postmaster. But what to block or why is the Filter blocking this address takes time to figure out. A variety of good tools are needed to get the job done.

I found myself in that situation more and more frequently. I have used several tools in the past with some satisfaction. Then I found G-lock's Advanced Administrative Tools. It is a great assembly of utilities. Looks like they made it just for me.

AATools is a multi-threaded network diagnostic tool. Its purpose is to accumulate data pertaining to network status and availability, using all of the latest development tools in network research. It is a 12-in-1 utility.

Port Scanner

With an internal database of ports (officially assigned, unofficially used, or currently affected by network Trojan programs) that analyzes hosts and the different services that have been started on them. Its comprehensive scanning engine gathers all the information about the services, threads, etc. The AATools Port Scanner accurately determines the active ports/services using TCP/UDP port interrogation.

Proxy Analyzer

For testing lists of Proxies and/or verify a list of addresses on a present proxy servers. It provides the most detailed information obtainable about the proxy itself, including, its headers, locations etc. It is a fully loaded tool for managing proxy lists (with anonymous proxy rating).

RBL list tester

Ever wondered if your address or domain is on a Blacklist.? (RealTime BlackList Locator) is a special tool, designed to quickly search for an IP address in DNS-Based spam databases. RBL Locator checks a given IP address against the most known blacklists. The AATools RBL Locator will help you to determine if you're listed as a "bad actor" on any of the shared blacklists. When testing don't forget to test SMTP server in case you use someones (your ISP) relay.

Trace Route

Shows you the path a packet sent from your machine to some other machine on the network takes as it hops from router to router. It will show you the IP address and the actual name of each router, line-by-line.

Email Verifier

Is your unique solution for the "message delivery error". You don't need to disturb your clients and friends any more to verify whether or not their e-mail addresses are still valid. Email Verifier connects directly to their SMTP server and checks it for you. Nothing is sent to the recipient, while their SMTP address is verified.

Links Analyzer

If you are planning on Installing AATools on Windows 95, you must download the Patches to configure your System compatible with AATools!
Please download and install: Microsoft Winsock 2 Update and Microsoft Winsock Memory Leak Fix.

These Microsoft patches will correct some minor issues on Windows 95 systems. It is essential that these patches are installed to ensure smooth and reliable running of AATools! Installing these patches will not affect any other program on your system!
