It's

- Email cannot be archived if everybody picks up his
own email at the ISP or hosted domain.
- Email cannot be effectively archived if some users
pick up mail from outside POP3 accounts.
- Email archives should store none altered messages
as they where received.
- No matter what kind of database you use initially
the messages need to be stored in order received.
- Not only should you archive the email you also need
an audit log.

email practices survey conducted by Image
& Data Manager magazine, which showed
that Australian companies may be seriously
breaching Archives and Corporations law
by deleting business related emails. While
77 percent of the companies surveyed indicated
that they use or accept email for financial
transactions such as orders, confirmations
and pricing, 80 percent reported that they
delete their emails within a month, with
42 percent deleting daily. Fifty percent
say they print out less than five percent
of their emails, so often no record is kept.

Archiving Email - Staff
and Faculty Only
All GroupWise email older than 60 days is
deleted. If you are a staff or faculty member
and you need
to have access to email items older than
60 days, you can Archive them.
Note: While students do not
have the abilty to Archive mail items, they
can save the items to disc with
a .doc extension, using File | Save As and
following the prompts. The saved email items
will open in Word.
