Ceratec spells solutions
Ceratec is a support oriented enterprise with customer
world wide. We have experts in the field of network
and data communication. Our history goes back over 20
years. Incorporated in 1980, Ceratec was founded with
a strong focus on the ceramic industry. This however
changed when we started developing computer programs.
As demand for computers and software grew we reduced
our presence in the brick machinery industry.
Even before IBM introduced the original PC, Ceratec
was publishing and distributing software for Tandy Computers.
Ceratec was the first to transmit color pictures over
data lines for public access at a whopping 300 braud.
In 1982, we bundled this feature in the commercial release
of our COLORAMA BBS. It turned out to be an instant
success. Bulletin Board Systems were the early versions
of what we now know as Internet portals. The COLORAMA
BBS included private and open messaging, forums, online
shopping, news, downloads, online games and more. It
was multi-language capable, highly customizable and
fit in the 32K of what was then the Tandy Color Computer
also known as COCO. At the height of the BBS era, over
300 COLORAMA systems were officially online world wide.
We also published a mailing list program for the COCO
and distributed Colorcom/E, a terminal program essential
to the success of the online community. Colorcom/E would
allow downloading programs and saving them to tape or
floppies.
A short time later, the IBM PC emerged and the desktop
computer was ready to revolutionize the business scene.
Expensive laser printers and costly hard drives were
available for the PC. There was a great need to share
these costly resources and Ceratec found itself in the
middle of the early PC networking days. Novell was not
advanced back then. Microsoft was nowhere to be seen.
Companies like 10Net, Corvus and 3Com were the major
players in the network software market.
Ceratec installed numerous networks in schools, mid-size
businesses, government agencies and many small companies.
We're still doing it today. We stay ahead of the competition
with our value-added automation features and reliable
service over many years. Many of our customers have
been with us since the early days, 15 to 20 years ago.
Today our goal is to optimize the use of the computer
for our customers. We do it online and onsite. We maintain
networks or help you install one of our e-mail or remote
products. We enjoy explaining things to you and nobody
ever asks us a "stupid" question.
Our office is located near Elgin, Texas hidden behind
acres of trees, away from traffic lights and rush hour.
Nevertheless, we're still only a phone call away.
